Holiday Printing: Ideas for Unique Gifts

Posted on by Peter Semington

Always a fun idea, put a great picture drawn by your child on your holiday cards!

Happy Holidays from most of us here at Dunn & Semington

I’m, again, very humbled that you’ve chosen to waste your time reading my blog. This time I thought I’d “try” to write about something halfway serious and/or important…

PRINTING for the Holidays!

In my leaner income years I would resort to giving family members printed items as a gift. They immediately saw through my miserly plan. Especially since I scanned famous pictures and Photoshopped their heads in place and made them into cards. Jerks

Nowadays I’ve graduated to Starbucks Gift Cards for all relatives (sorry mom)

More importantly would be my ideas for you, dear Customer. What follows are some of the creative print solutions I’ve seen in my years as PrinterPete. Most are really creative and not people trying to get out of buying gifts for their clients.

I have had more than one client hire a kid to draw up a Holiday-themed picture. We would then scan this and make Greeting Cards for all of their customers. Other than violating child-labor laws, I think this was a neat idea. It is definitely a one-of-a-kind piece and certainly NOT run-of-the-mill Hallmark crap.

With digital, on-demand printing being so easy and convenient, I’ve produced notepads very inexpensively for Clients. You need not order thousands–we’re talking 5 or 10 pads here. A business logo or boudoir photo of yourself…anything goes.

One more unique idea (and a personal favorite) was the calendar we printed up featuring BeBe Zahara Benet (www.bebezaharabenet.com) Each month featured BeBe in a different and beautiful setting. There’s a reason why she won RuPaul’s Drag Race! Rawrrrrrrr….

Finally…if you’re just lazy and want to make up a quick gift, how about Business cards? Have a VIP client? Make up some personal cards for them to hand out to friends, relatives, streetpeople, etc. Throw on their Twitter handle and Facebook info. Maybe snap a quick, embarrasing pic and make that into something fun.

Have a great Holiday Season!
